Below are some of the most helpful tips and faq's we've seen over the years photographing weddings.
* Allow extra getting ready time… there will always be something that takes longer than expected!
* Receiving lines are typically more time consuming than originally thought. We have seen them take half an hour or more. We recommend budgeting extra time if you wish to do this. Another great time where we can get candid shots of your guests is if you visit each table at your reception.
* Please keep in mind the time of year you are getting married and how the daylight hours will affect it. For example, having a ceremony at 4:00 in December will only allow daylight photos before the ceremony. An interesting site that we use is www.sunrisesunset.com . Here you can find the sunset time for any location you specify!
* The lighting in the later afternoon to evening is much better than mid-day. High noon is the worse time for outdoor photos as it causes squinting and the light is un-flattering, however usually shade can be found. This is something to keep in mind when planning your favorite outdoor photos.
*Warm, glowing couple photos with the sun wrapping around are only possible in the last hour or so of sunlight.
*Unfortunately, many venues and catering companies do not look after vendors at all and it's not uncommon to go without a dinner if specific plans aren't made. We've had many times where we've politely asked the staff or manager, and received nothing but a cold shoulder. If we are able to eat at the same time as you do, the only thing we will miss is you two eating! This maximizes your photography investment and ensures neither of us need to leave in order to grab food.
What should we wear?
-Anything that you feel comfortable and confident in. Clothes with color can really add extra "pop" in your photos. Clothes with textures can add richness and stand out in black and white too. Outfits that compliment each other instead of matching can help bring out the uniqueness of each person. These are all suggestions, and it's our job to capture photos you love that capture your personality! That is our main goal for your photography experience!
When is the best time to take our photos? -Later in the day, around 2 hours before sunset is the ideal time as the lighting is the best, however wonderful photos are possible anytime of day!
What are some of your favorite locations? -Harpers Ferry, Baker Park in Frederick, Piney Run Park in Eldersburg, Quiet Waters Park in Annapolis, Downtown Annapolis, Monocacy Battlefield, and Gettysburg are some of our favorites! Any location you already know of is fine too! It's wonderful if the location is somewhere special to you both as this adds an extra element to your photos.
